I recently came across the very first Drop Da Biscuit podcast. It was during the first lockdown when I decided to try producing regular podcasts. I wasn’t really sure what DDB should be so the first pod ended up being a simple radio show. I ultimately felt that it would be best to try and do something a little different, so quickly started focusing on interviewing artists, DJs and other creatives. It’s been a great journey. Tune in!

DDB links up with singer, songwriter and educator, Fola Phillip. If there is a consistent theme to Fola’s story, it is of someone taking full advantage of the unexpected opportunities that she was presented with. In part one of our interview, Fola explains how she secured her first professional singing gig backing 80s pop icon’s Hoi Polloi. After surviving an appearance at DJ Elayne’s legendary 291 Club talent show, Fola went on to win the Best Unsigned Act Award at the 1997 MOBOs.
